City Reviews & Questions

City Review
Key Words: Nut Tree Vacaville, Premium Outlets, Capitol Corridor

Hartley is a rural community in Solano County, a few miles north of Vacaville on the road between that city and the Interstate 505 corridor. The area covers around six and a half square miles of open ground, with farm lots rather than a downtown. Vacaville is the reference point. The city dates to 1851 and stretches along Interstates 80 and 505. The Nut Tree area is a shopping and dining stop beside the freeway, and Vacaville Premium Outlets draws weekend traffic from across the region. Amtrak's Capitol Corridor reaches the city through the Fairfield-Vacaville station. On the ground, Midway Road ties the Hartley area to the Interstate 505 interchange, so a trip toward Sacramento, Davis or the Bay Area starts with a short run on country roads before the freeway. The roads stay quiet and the interstates are never far. Hartley's own character is agricultural. Ranchettes with barns and arenas dot the landscape, and the Pleasants Valley Agricultural Association promotes farm visits in the nearby hills, including Joyful Ranch, Morningsun Herb Farm and Be Love Farm. During its Open Farm Day, visitors can shop for honey, olive oil, lavender and seasonal fruit straight from the growers. Lagoon Valley Park, with its lake, trails and historic adobe, is the main public open space in the broader Vacaville area. Schools are mainly part of the Vacaville Unified district, with a small portion falling inside Dixon Unified. For an evening out, Judy's Wild Wrangler Saloon on Midway Road is the local landmark, and the dining and grocery options in Vacaville fill in the rest. The county is within reach of both Sacramento and the Bay Area, but not close to either, and everyday life here is built around driving. Everything beyond the property line, from milk to medical visits, takes a car. The trade is a corner store nearby for open sky.
