Lennox packs a whole small town into roughly a square mile. This unincorporated community of Los Angeles County is fenced in by Century Boulevard on the north and the 405 and 105 on two other sides, with Inglewood and Hawthorne pressing in, and almost every storefront along its main streets is independent. Housing is dense and mostly rented, and most streets mix aging bungalows with low stucco apartment buildings. The northern streets near Century feel closest to Inglewood, the blocks near the 405 on the west side run up against the freeway wall, and the middle of town, around Lennox Boulevard, holds the library, the park and the busiest sidewalks. Food is the main reason outsiders stop here. Inglewood Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard carry a long run of taquerias, mariscos counters, carnicerias and pupuserias, nearly all of them small and owner-run, and a Lennox Boulevard bakery handles the morning pan dulce. Green space is limited to Lennox Park on Condon Avenue, which carries a lot of weight as the one real park for the whole community. For bigger open space or the beach, residents drive west toward the coast. Daily errands stay close. Large Latino supermarkets sit on Hawthorne Boulevard, smaller meat and produce shops fill the side streets, and buses run up and down the main corridors. SoFi Stadium and the Hollywood Park district are just over the line in Inglewood, so game nights and concerts bring crowds and traffic to the surrounding streets. Space is the tradeoff here. In exchange, Lennox has what larger suburbs rarely manage, a walkable main street where the bakery, the butcher and the taco stand sit a short stroll apart.
