Curtis Park is one of central Sacramento's most beloved older neighborhoods, a streetcar-era grid wrapped around its namesake park just south of downtown and Midtown. The housing is the headline: Craftsman bungalows, Tudors, and storybook cottages on shaded streets, anchored by the Sierra 2 Center (a former school turned community hub) and the green of Curtis Park itself. The newer Curtis Park Village, built on the old Western Pacific railyard, added homes, a grocery, and retail on the southern edge, and the light rail and Sacramento City College are close. It is walkable by Sacramento standards and genuinely central. The tradeoffs are price, which has climbed with demand, and tight street parking on the densest blocks. For buyers who want historic architecture, a real park, and a central address, Curtis Park is a perennial favorite.
