Del Paso Park is a regional park area rather than a residential neighborhood, the large public open space northeast of downtown that wraps around the Haggin Oaks golf complex near the Auburn Boulevard and Watt Avenue corridors. The footprint is golf, sports fields, open space, and the trail and recreation amenities that make it one of the bigger green assets on this side of the city. Nobody lives inside the boundary; its value is to the surrounding North Sacramento and Arden neighborhoods that use it for golf, ballfields, and walking. The honest note is that, like several of the city's large open spaces, conditions and upkeep vary across the property, and access is recreation-oriented rather than neighborhood-integrated. As a place to live it is parkland and fairways; as an amenity it anchors recreation for a wide swath of the area.
