Gateway Center is primarily a business and commercial district in the South Natomas area, near the I-5 and Garden Highway interchange just north of downtown, rather than a residential neighborhood. The footprint is office parks, hotels, and corporate campuses built to capture the freeway access and the quick line to downtown and the airport. There is little housing inside the boundary, and the area empties out after business hours the way office districts do. Its value is to the surrounding South Natomas neighborhoods as an employment hub and to the region as a conveniently placed office node near the river and the freeways. For anyone evaluating it as a place to live, it is mostly a workplace district; the residential life is in the Natomas neighborhoods around it.
