Hagginwood is one of North Sacramento's older neighborhoods, a streetcar-era community north of downtown with a genuine sense of history and a real internal anchor in Hagginwood Park and the adjacent library and pool. The housing runs to Minimal Traditional and ranch-style homes and bungalows from the early-to-mid 20th century on a walkable-ish grid, more established than the newer north-side tracts. The Marysville Boulevard and Del Paso corridors carry the everyday retail, and light rail and I-80 access are within reach. The honest picture is the broader North Sacramento one: the area has carried long disinvestment, and conditions and upkeep vary block to block. The appeal is older housing with character, a real park and library at the center, and affordability close to downtown. It is a neighborhood with bones and history that has had a harder run than its central-city cousins.
