Hazelwood is a small, quiet residential pocket in the Arden area, set near the Mission Avenue corridor in the eastern part of the county close to Garden of the Gods and the Arden Oaks orbit. The housing is largely mid-century single-family on comfortable lots, well-kept and unassuming, with the green, settled feel of the better Arden interior pockets. It is car-oriented, with everyday shopping on the surrounding arterials and the American River Parkway a short drive south. There is little commercial activity within the boundary itself, so the streets stay residential and calm. The appeal is a tidy, established home in a green part of Arden-Arcade at a moderate price, close to the parkway and the central-east conveniences. It is one of the lower-key corners of the area, and that is much of its draw.
