Natomas Crossing is a newer mixed residential-and-retail area in North Natomas, near the Truxel and Del Paso Road corridors where much of the area's regional shopping is concentrated. The housing is contemporary single-family, townhomes, and apartments on planned streets, sitting close to the big retail centers, restaurants, and the entertainment options that grew up with the Natomas expansion. I-5 is right there, putting downtown and the airport both within a quick drive. The tradeoffs are the familiar Natomas ones: a car-oriented layout, modest mature shade on the youngest blocks, and shopping in planned centers rather than on a walkable street. The appeal is relatively new housing within easy reach of the area's retail and the freeway. It is one of the more convenient North Natomas pockets for everyday errands, built around access rather than charm.
