Sundance Lake is one of the master-planned residential pockets of North Natomas, built in recent decades around the lake feature that gives it its name. The housing is contemporary single-family and townhomes on tidy planned streets, with the lake, parks, and paths providing the kind of designed open space that defines the better Natomas developments. It sits within easy reach of the regional Natomas shopping, with quick I-5 access and a reasonable line to the airport and downtown. The tradeoffs are the standard Natomas ones: a car-oriented layout, limited mature shade on the newer streets against the summer heat, and the area's long-discussed flood-protection context that levee upgrades have improved. The appeal is a newer home wrapped around a real water feature with planned parks and strong freeway access. It is one of the more pleasant North Natomas pockets thanks to the lake at its center.
