Village 7, also known as North Natomas Village, is one of the numbered planned villages of North Natomas, set a few miles north of downtown on the area's flat former farmland. It has a small signature touch: many of its streets are named after artists, from Renaissance painters to more contemporary names, a quirk that gives it a bit of identity among the numbered villages. The housing is tightly grouped contemporary suburban homes on planned streets, with the parks and paths typical of the area. It is convenient for the freeways, with I-5 close and the regional Natomas shopping within reach, and the airport and downtown both a quick drive. The tradeoffs are the familiar Natomas ones: car-oriented, modest mature shade, and the flood-protection context that levee work has addressed. The appeal is newer homes with planned amenities and a little more character than the numbered name suggests.
