Woodlake is an older, established neighborhood in North Sacramento, set near the river and the Northgate corridor not far from the East Levee and the American River. The housing is a mix of early-to-mid-century homes, bungalows, and ranch builds on a walkable-ish grid, with more history and character than the newer north-side tracts and a quiet, settled feel. Its edge over the inland north-side pockets is the river: the levee and the American River Parkway access points are close, and downtown is a quick drive across the water. Everyday retail runs to the Northgate and Del Paso arterials, with I-5 and Business 80 within reach. The honest notes are the freeway and industrial edges that frame parts of the area and upkeep that varies block to block. The appeal is older homes with character in a river-adjacent north-side location close to downtown.
