The Branham neighborhood is, more than anything, a transit address: two VTA light-rail stations, Branham and Capitol, sit right in it along the Highway 87 corridor, which is unusually good rail access for a residential pocket this far south. That is the thing to know here, because the well-known Branham High School and Branham Park that share the name actually sit a few miles west, in a different neighborhood entirely. What you get in this pocket is flat, valley-floor housing wrapped around the freeway-and-rail spine, close to the Almaden and Capitol Expressway corridors for everything else. The obvious tradeoff is that same corridor: living beside Highway 87 and the light-rail line means noise and a streetscape shaped by infrastructure. For a commuter who wants to step onto the train without a transfer and does not mind the freeway edge, Branham makes a real case. Just do not buy it expecting the school or the park; those belong to the Kooser neighborhood next door.
