Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Eastside Grid, School Anchored, Central Access

Bryant is a quiet residential neighborhood on the eastern side of Long Beach, one of several local pockets that take their name from the elementary school anchoring them. It sits just north of the busy Zaferia business district along Anaheim Street and within easy reach of the Traffic Circle, so the commercial energy stays on the edges while the interior keeps to flat, gridded blocks of single-family homes and small apartment buildings from the mid-century. Pacific Coast Highway forms the northern boundary and carries much of the through-traffic, which is the neighborhood's main downside; step a few blocks in and it settles down. There is no park or retail node inside the lines, but Recreation Park, the shops along Fourth Street, and the beach are all a short drive south. The appeal is a central-eastside location at a more attainable price than the historic districts nearer the water.
