Castlerock sits up in the eastern Rincon Valley foothills, and it is one of the neighborhoods buyers land in when they want updated homes with a little elevation and quick access to the open space east of town. The housing stock here shows a lot of remodels: vaulted ceilings, newer kitchens, the kind of light-filled updates that come with homes that have been kept current rather than left alone. The location does a lot of the work. You are minutes from the Highway 12 corridor and the Rincon Valley shopping that comes with it, and the trails of Trione-Annadel and the hills above are right there for the weekends. The Rincon Valley and Maria Carrillo schools that draw families to this side of the city serve the area, which keeps demand steady. The tradeoffs are the eastern-hills tradeoffs. You are car-oriented for daily errands, and like much of northeast Santa Rosa this is wildfire country, so defensible space and evacuation routes are part of the conversation here in a way they are not on the valley floor. For buyers who want move-in-ready and close to trails, Castlerock delivers.
