Oakmont Village is a world of its own, a large 55-and-over community spread across the eastern end of Santa Rosa along Highway 12, at the base of Hood Mountain and the hills above Trione-Annadel. With more than 3,000 homes and thousands of residents, it functions almost like a self-contained town, and the amenities are the reason people move here: 36 holes of golf, three recreation centers with pools, and miles of trails. The setting is wine-country pretty. Hillside homes pull in vineyard and mountain views, wineries sit within walking distance just across Highway 12, and the open space of the eastern parks is right out the back door. For an active-adult buyer, the sheer density of clubs, courses, and activities is hard to match anywhere in the North Bay. The honest notes are real. This is age-restricted, so it is not for every household, the housing leans toward uniform ranch and condo styles rather than architectural variety, and its eastern-edge position means wildfire is a live concern, with the community evacuated during the 2020 Glass Fire. For those it fits, Oakmont is one of the most amenity-rich addresses in the county.
