Centerview is Carson's north end, a grid of homes and small businesses along Broadway and Main Street where a Japanese market, a scooter museum and a pupuseria all share the same few blocks. Nijiya Market on Broadway stocks Japanese groceries and prepared foods, and Planet Lambretta, just down the street, is a museum devoted to vintage Lambretta scooters. Homes in Centerview are mostly modest midcentury single-family houses, one story with small yards, many updated with additions or new exteriors. Some blocks mix in small apartment buildings and light industrial lots, especially near Main Street and Gardena Boulevard. Walnut Mini Park on Walnut Street is the neighborhood's pocket park, with a playground for short outings. Many residents walk the Broadway sidewalks for exercise and errands alike, since the corridor mixes shops and homes. For more open space, Hemingway Park on Gardena Boulevard is a short drive east in Galaxie West. Food is where Centerview stands out. Black Coffee LA on Broadway is the coffee stop, Little Brothers Bakery on Alondra Boulevard bakes breads and pastries, Los Cheros Pupuseria on Main Street serves Salvadoran pupusas, and Fabulous Charbroiled Burgers on Gardena Boulevard handles burgers. Beer Thug Brewpub on 162nd Street pours local beer. Daily life is easier by car, though Broadway and Main Street shops are walkable from many blocks. The Harbor Freeway and the 91 are close, and Gardena and the rest of the South Bay are a short drive. The tradeoff is that light industry and trucking share the streets with houses, so noise and traffic vary block to block. The upside is a food scene with more range than most of Carson, all within a few blocks of home. A morning coffee on Broadway and pupusas for dinner on Main Street is an ordinary day here.
