El Dorado Park Estates is a perennially popular residential neighborhood on the eastern edge of Long Beach, named for the enormous regional park and nature center it sits beside. The homes are solid mid-century single-stories on flat, planted streets, in a tract that consistently ranks among the wealthier and most stable parts of the city. The draw is genuine: residents are minutes from El Dorado Park's lakes, trails, and nature preserve, and both the San Gabriel River and Coyote Creek bike paths run nearby, so the cycling and walking access is unusually good for a suburban neighborhood. Shopping along Spring Street and the 605 freeway are close. As with the rest of the eastside, this is a car-oriented neighborhood without a walkable retail strip of its own. What it offers instead is quiet, well-kept blocks with one of the best park-and-trail setups in Long Beach right next door.
