El Macero is the country-club enclave just east of Davis, and a technicality worth knowing up front: it is an unincorporated Yolo County community, not inside the city limits, even though the mailing address says Davis. It was laid out around the El Macero Country Club, founded in 1961, and the golf course is the spine the whole place is built on. The look is unmistakable: wide streets, large lots, mature landscaping, and homes that present well behind deep setbacks. Around 410 residences sit among roughly 168 acres of club and course. This is the polished, established end of the Davis-area market. Two honest notes. The club, pool, tennis, and golf are private member amenities, not public parks, so the green you see is mostly not yours to roam. And because it sits outside the city grid, daily errands and downtown mean a drive rather than a quick bike ride.
