Erikson's standout feature is the Ohlone/Chynoweth light-rail station tucked into its northwest corner, a junction where the main line meets the Almaden shuttle, which makes this modest south San Jose pocket genuinely transit-connected. Worth flagging: the neighborhood is named for an elementary school that closed back in 2005, so the name honors a school that is no longer a school, with the site now serving a county program. What remains is flat, valley-floor single-family housing pressed up against the Highway 87 light-rail corridor, affordable and practical, with Blossom Hill Road handling the shopping. The tradeoffs are the rail-and-freeway edge that shapes the northwest side and a housing stock showing its years. This is a value neighborhood where the transit is the real amenity.
