This is Carmichael's eastern edge, where the community meets Fair Oaks along San Juan Avenue. It runs quieter and less trafficked than the central neighborhoods, and its best feature is easy to miss from the road: Schweitzer Grove Nature Area, a 17-acre pocket of trails and oak woodland tucked into the residential streets, with walk-in entrances off Sumter Drive, Hussey Drive, and a few other lanes. The housing is solid mid-century Carmichael on standard lots, with the unflashy, lived-in character of the east side. Buses run along San Juan Avenue and Winding Way, but day to day this is a car-oriented part of town. The tradeoff here is distance. Sitting on the far edge means the Milagro Centre, the library, and the bigger parks are all a drive rather than a stroll. What you get in return is one of the calmer corners of Carmichael and a genuine nature area most of the county has never heard of. If you would take a quiet street and a trailhead over walkable errands, the eastern edge makes a real case.
