Glen lies along the Forest Avenue edge of Pacific Grove, a compact residential pocket whose routine is shaped by the grocery stores next door. On the city's planning map it's one of the smaller areas, and Arnett Park is the green space inside its lines. Pacific Grove is known for Victorian, Craftsman and Spanish revival architecture, and Glen belongs to that older tradition. Planning data shows more homes per acre here than across most of town, so lots run small and a few buildings hold more than one unit alongside the single-family houses. It reads as an everyday corner rather than one of the postcard blocks near the water. Errands are the draw. Up at the top of Forest Hill, Safeway and Trader Joe's can both be reached on foot, and Julia's Vegetarian Restaurant shares that plaza with them. Julia's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and leans on seasonal mushroom dishes. Taste Cafe & Bistro sits close by too, a European-style kitchen where the chef-owner works in the open and the doors have been open since 1990. Dinner runs Tuesday through Saturday. A Starbucks is nearby when all you want is a quick coffee. For a long walk or a real stretch of open space you head north. The shoreline is a short drive, and the town's coastal trail follows it. Inside Glen itself, outdoor time means a loop through Arnett Park and the streets around it, and Higgins Park and Hilltop Park lie a little way beyond the edge. The big draws such as the dunes and tidepools are across town and take a planned trip. Living beside a shopping center brings more car traffic around the edges than you'd find on the quieter streets elsewhere in town, especially near the store entrances. Safeway and Trader Joe's being this near means a forgotten ingredient costs a quick walk, not a drive across town.
