Keystone covers the west end of Carson Street, the stretch that anchors the city's Filipino food scene. The Seafood City plaza at 131 W Carson St sets the tone, with Red Ribbon Bakeshop and Grill City sharing the lot with the supermarket. Homes in Keystone are a real mix. Single-story tract houses from the 1950s and 1960s fill most of the side streets, apartments line the busier blocks, and several mobile home communities, including Carson Gardens Trailer Lodge, Imperial Carson Mobile Home and Laco Mobile Home Park, offer a smaller footprint. Filipino restaurants line both main streets. Goldilocks Bakeshop and Restaurant sits at 100 W Carson, and Manila's Lechon and Tambuli Market are a few doors west. Main Street has its own Filipino run, where Maynila On Main Street, Casa Filipina Restaurant & Bake Shop and Mami King sit near Tacolipino. Two city parks sit inside the neighborhood. Carson Park, on Orrick Avenue, has a swimming pool, two lighted ball diamonds and picnic space. Veterans Park, on Moneta Avenue, adds a 10,000-square-foot skate park, an amphitheater and the Veterans Sports Complex, with an NBA-regulation court and a weight room. Errands are easy. Vallarta Supermarkets and Seafood City sit on Carson Street, the Carson Library is at 151 E Carson, and many blocks are within walking distance of all three. Freeway access is easy, with the 110 and 405 both nearby. The tradeoff is weekend crowding. The Seafood City lot fills up and Carson Street slows down as weekend shoppers pour in. Living a few blocks away turns that into an advantage, since a Goldilocks pastry box or a lechon order is a walk instead of a drive.
