Longwood is a small neighborhood in the far northern reach of Long Beach, in the narrow band near Long Beach Boulevard and Susana Road where the city meets Rancho Dominguez and the industrial flats along the rail and freeway corridors. It is one of the most out-of-the-way residential pockets in the city, a modest cluster of homes hemmed by commercial and industrial uses and well removed from the Long Beach most people picture. The setting means affordability and immediate access to the 91, 710, and the regional goods-movement network, but also the noise, traffic, and utilitarian surroundings that come with a freeway-and-rail edge. There is no park or retail core inside the boundary.
