Neighborhood Review

Key Words:

Walk-to-Safeway shopping, Quick freeway reach, Established 1960s ranches

Mitty occupies a slim wedge between Lawrence Expressway and Strawberry Park, with Stevens Creek Boulevard forming the northern edge and Moorpark Avenue the southern tip. Inside the taper, Mitty Way and Forest View Drive feed quiet loops such as Westdale and Glentree, where single-story ranches from the early 1960s sit on sixty-foot frontages. Houses show original brick accents, fresh paint in coastal palettes, and newer dual-pane windows, while yards feature tidy lawns bordered by camellias and citrus trees. Many garages have been converted to bonus rooms, so street parking can be busy in the evenings. Daily convenience is strong. A Safeway-anchored plaza at Stevens Creek and Lawrence offers groceries, coffee, and quick dining within a two-minute walk, and Interstate 280 ramps lie just beyond. On weekends residents stroll to Archbishop Mitty High School fields for youth soccer or head five minutes east to Calabazas Park’s dog run and basketball courts. The flipside is constant traffic noise from Lawrence Expressway, especially for homes along the western fence line, and cut-through drivers sometimes speed down Mitty Way during rush hour. Sidewalks and mature magnolias lend a settled feel, but public green inside the tract is limited to private lawns and the school campus, so families seeking playgrounds or larger open space will need to hop in the car. Overall, Mitty offers a stable mid-century pocket with excellent retail access, balanced against expressway hum and modest interior parks.
