Monte Vista Park in Salinas holds a lot of open ground for its size. Veterans Memorial Park, Creekbridge Neighborhood Park and the Constitution Soccer Complex all sit inside the boundary, along with the Monterey County Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Natividad Creek skatepark is next door in Las Casitas. Creekbridge, whose park gives the area part of its name, is one of the developments that filled in the northeast side through the 1990s and early 2000s alongside Harden Ranch and Williams Ranch. Streets curve instead of following the old downtown grid, and the houses are newer than those nearer Main Street. For breakfast, Creekside Bagel Bakery, at 1488 Constitution Boulevard, is a family-owned bakery that makes its bagels fresh on site, and the jalapeno cheddar bagels and baked melts are the ones people recommend. For dinner, Avatar Indian Grill runs a buffet, Mi Taqueria El Kiosko 2 handles tacos, and Mac City Macarons sells French-style cookies for dessert. Smaller stops fill the gaps. Island Fin Poke does poke bowls, BKM Healthy Foods blends smoothies and juices, Mountain Mike's Pizza and Wingstop cover casual dinners, and Baskin-Robbins is the ice cream stop. Across the line in Harden Ranch, Rafael Mexican Grill and Pizza Factory add more dinner choices. Weekly shopping happens at the neighborhood's own Safeway, and a Starbucks and several quick-service restaurants sit in the same shopping centers. Highway 101 is the main way out of town, and regional buses cover the rest. Fields and parks are plentiful, while restaurants and shops gather in shopping centers, so dinner out usually means driving, and a trip to the coast means a longer drive on the highway. The park names here, from Veterans Memorial to Creekbridge, are about the best map of Monte Vista Park, and the memorial adds a quiet spot between the playing fields.
