Old North Davis is the Bowers Addition, the older grid of homes just north of downtown between roughly Fifth and Eighth that predates the city's postwar sprawl. Despite the 'North' name it sits in what locals now think of as central Davis, and it has its own neighborhood association and identity. It is one of the most walkable residential pockets in the city, an easy stroll to G Street, Central Park, and the farmers market, with the older housing stock and mature trees that come with age. People hold onto these houses. The tradeoff is the flip side of being this central: smaller, older homes, tighter lots, and the foot and car traffic that comes with living a few blocks from the busiest part of Davis. Charm and location, not space, are the product here.
