Otay Ranch Village 6 fills the block of eastern Chula Vista framed by Olympic Parkway, La Media Road, Birch Road and State Route 125. It is one of the denser Otay Ranch villages, planned in 2001 with more apartments and townhomes than detached houses, and it sits within easy reach of the Otay Ranch Town Center just across the freeway. Housing reflects that plan. Two-story single-family homes from the 2000s share the village with condo and townhome courts and apartment complexes, all in the same stucco and tile palette. Streets are laid out around paseos and pocket greens, so it is possible to cross much of the neighborhood on foot without walking along a major road. Santa Venetia Park on Magdalena Avenue is the hub, a seven-acre city park with a skate park and basketball courts, plus ball and soccer fields and covered picnic shelters you can reserve. Lomas Verdes and its Cottonwood Park sit just north across Olympic Parkway. The village itself has only a few small storefronts, so a meal out usually means the Town Center. Novo Brazil Brewing runs a big taproom there, a quick hop over SR-125, where the kitchen turns out Brazilian, Mexican and American plates to go with dozens of house beers on tap. The Town Center also handles most errands, with a Chula Vista library branch and plenty of shopping, and a Vons on Eastlake Parkway covers groceries. The Rapid 225 stops at Santa Venetia Station, giving Otay Ranch Village 6 a direct bus line to downtown San Diego every 20 to 30 minutes on weekdays. Living next to a freeway has a cost, and homes on the east edge hear SR-125 traffic. The density also means more cars parked on the street than in the single-family villages nearby. In return, Village 6 puts a park, a bus line and a mall all within a few minutes of home.
