Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Davenport Park, Paramount Boulevard, Northside Green

Paramount, which Houseberry pairs with the Davenport Park label, is a neighborhood in the far north of Long Beach along the Paramount Boulevard corridor near the city's northern edge. Its namesake green space, Davenport Park, gives the area a recreational anchor, and the city has expanded the park in recent years to serve this part of the Northside. The housing is modest postwar single-family stock and apartments on flat streets, among the more affordable in the city. Shopping runs along Paramount and the nearby avenues, and the 91 and 710 freeways are close for regional connections. As with much of North Long Beach, the neighborhood is car-oriented and the upkeep varies block to block. The clear asset here is Davenport Park itself, which gives Paramount a real piece of green space and recreation in a part of the city where that is not always a given.
