Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Downtown Edge, Walkable Blocks, Willmore Adjacent

West Village is a small, dense neighborhood on the northwest edge of downtown Long Beach, a grid of older homes, apartments, and small commercial buildings between the city center and the historic Willmore district. It is an urban, walkable pocket steps from much of what downtown offers: Pine Avenue dining, the waterfront, the convention center, and the Long Beach Boulevard transit corridor are all a short distance away, and the 710 is close for getting out of town. The housing is a mix that runs from early-1900s buildings to mid-century apartments, generally affordable and renter-heavy, with the density and varied upkeep of an inner-city neighborhood. There is limited green space inside the boundary, though Drake and Cesar Chavez parks in the adjacent Willmore area are nearby. For buyers who want an affordable, walkable, downtown-edge location and do not need a yard, West Village offers central access at a lower price than the towers a few blocks south.
