City-Center is original Antioch, the blocks in and around downtown Rivertown where the city started as a riverboat port. It is also the most walkable address in town. The El Campanil Theatre has been running shows since 1928, Waldie Plaza hosts free outdoor concerts, and the Antioch Marina drops the San Joaquin River, a launch ramp, and a waterfront grill at the end of the street. No other Antioch neighborhood puts that list within walking distance. The housing is the city's oldest: vintage bungalows, a scattering of Victorians, and small apartment buildings, carrying some of the lowest prices in Antioch. The honest part is that downtown's revival is still a work in progress. Storefronts turn over, a few blocks feel skipped, and the area's reputation tends to lag whatever the latest push has actually accomplished. For buyers betting on Rivertown's long game, this is the value play of the city. You are buying character and a waterfront, and patience is built into the purchase price.
