Sycamore Drive is the corridor everyone in Antioch has an opinion about. The dense run of apartments and condos off the street has carried the city's toughest reputation for years, with the Sycamore Square shopping center at the center of both the problem and the response. After the city signed a lease in 2025, a police substation opened inside the center in early 2026 as part of a sustained push to turn the corridor around. Here is what the reputation obscures. The location is genuinely handy, with Highway 4, the Somersville Road retail strips, and most daily errands inside a few minutes. Entry prices are the lowest in the city, mostly through condos and smaller units, which makes this the cheapest front door into East County homeownership. This is a neighborhood mid-rewrite. Anyone who needs calm today should look elsewhere, and no honest agent would say otherwise. Buyers pricing in the city's investment and betting on the corridor's next chapter are at least making the same bet City Hall is.
