Camino Tassajara covers the eastern edge of Danville in Contra Costa County, where the suburban streets begin to give way to the grassy hills of the Tassajara Valley. Mount Diablo anchors the skyline to the north, with Blackhawk just to the west. Homes are mostly suburban subdivisions set along the road of the same name, with ranchland and open slopes just beyond the last streets. The feel is spacious and quiet, with hills visible from many yards. At the east edge, the road leaves the subdivisions and runs between fenced pasture. For outdoors, Bengali Park is inside the neighborhood, and the Diablo Vista Athletic Field, beside Diablo Vista Middle School, is a green stretch for pickup games and loops on foot. Beyond that, county supervisors signed off in 2021 on a deal that sets aside 727 acres east of Blackhawk for the regional park district, adding to the open land already around here. Mount Diablo State Park is a drive away. Diablo Vista Middle School, part of San Ramon Valley Unified at 4100 Camino Tassajara, marks the eastern end of town and is the main public landmark along this stretch. There is no real food scene inside the neighborhood. For coffee, a Starbucks on Hartz Avenue is the closest chain, and downtown Danville has the local cafes and restaurants. One local landmark is the Tassajara One Room School at 1650 Finley Road, built in 1889 and now operated as an educational site by the San Ramon Valley museum. Daily life revolves around driving. Groceries and errands are in Danville and San Ramon, and Camino Tassajara is the main route out, carrying traffic west toward town and east into the valley. Danville's downtown and the supermarkets around it sit a few miles west, and that gap is the cost of the open land. Nearly every errand, meal or coffee means getting in the car. Standing at the edge of the neighborhood, you can watch the streetlights thin out into pasture.
