Craftsman-style homes, townhomes and apartments sit on a compact, walkable grid with front porches close to the sidewalk and a village green at the center. The whole point is walkability: the plan mixes homes with retail and everyday services so errands can happen on foot, a rarity in this car-oriented part of the metro. It sits near the central spine of the city, with Highway 50 and the Gold Line light rail both within easy reach for the trip toward downtown Sacramento. The tradeoff is density and scale: lots are small, some homes share walls, and it is a compact enclave rather than a sprawling one. But for buyers who want to actually walk to a coffee and a green rather than drive everywhere, Capital Village is the most genuinely pedestrian address in the city.
