Clayton Valley runs along Concord's eastern stretch of Clayton Road, the long commercial spine that carries this side of the city toward the actual town of Clayton. It's a convenient, established part of Concord where the shopping is genuinely close. The Clayton Valley Shopping Center and the string of retail along Clayton Road mean groceries, coffee, and dinner are a short drive or, from some blocks, a walkable errand. Behind the corridor, the streets settle into well-kept ranch and two-story homes assigned toward Silverwood Elementary, with the ridgeline toward Mount Diablo filling the view to the south. The tradeoff is Clayton Road itself: it moves a lot of traffic, and the blocks closest to it trade some quiet for that convenience. Get a street or two back and you get the best of this neighborhood, retail at your doorstep and hills on the horizon, which is why Clayton Valley holds its value better than its price tag suggests.
