Crossroads is Riverbank's shopping district, the newest part of town and the one most people drive to for a chain restaurant, a big grocery run or a Saturday errand loop. Claribel Road is its spine. Ramen 101, at 2441 Claribel Road, is the local noodle spot among the national names, open into the evening, and Applebee's and Red Robin handle the sit-down meals, Panera and Five Guys fill out the dining row, and Chipotle, Panda Express, Togo's and L&L Hawaiian Barbecue cover quick lunches, with Nick The Greek and Round Table Pizza for something more sit-down. Homes.com calls Crossroads the most developed part of the city, and new construction has been moving in around the retail, including the Crossroads East communities. The housing here is newer than downtown's, mostly stucco and traditional in style, and it sits right up against the stores. Save Mart handles the weekly shop, and Trader Joe's, just across the line in Crossroads West, adds a second option. Starbucks and Krispy Kreme cover the morning stops, with Crumbl for dessert. For a sit-down Mexican meal, La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant and Bar is on the same strip. The outdoor spaces are neighborhood-scale. Sorensen and Silva parks and Rotary Centennial Park are all inside the boundary, with lawns, play areas and room for a short walk after dinner. The river is a drive away, since Jacob Myers Park is on the other side of the city. Getting around is a driving proposition. Everything is spread across big parking lots, and the major roads that serve the district also lead to the bus routes and the drive to Modesto. The tradeoff is the sameness. If you want a neighborhood where each block has its own character, downtown or River Cove will feel more individual, but nothing else in Riverbank puts this many shops and restaurants in one place.
