Crossroads West is mostly a shopping district in Riverbank, centered where Oakdale Road meets Claribel Road. Trader Joe's announced its arrival here in early 2026, and the store is the center's anchor. Most of what is inside the boundary is stores and restaurants, so it reads more like a retail park than a place to take a long walk. Palo Santo Cafe, at 6333 Oakdale Road, is the local standout. It is family owned and makes its food from scratch with a nod to Mexico City, and it also serves specialty coffee and artisan gelato. The cafe keeps shorter hours than most places in the area, closing in the afternoon. Beyond that, the center fills with the usual national names, plus Mountain Mike's Pizza, among them Raising Cane's, Wendy's and Baskin-Robbins, and O'Brien's Market adds another grocery option. Most of the neighborhood's food is quick, car-friendly and clustered around parking lots, which makes the stop easy to combine with a grocery run. The parking lots are large and the walking distances between storefronts are real, so people tend to park once per errand. Ramen 101 and Nick the Greek are close enough in adjacent Crossroads to add variety. There are no parks inside the boundary. For lawns and playground equipment, the three parks in Crossroads sit right next door, and Jacob Myers Park, the river option, is a drive across town. The same arterials lead out toward the rest of the valley. Buses run through town, but most visitors arrive by car, and the large lots reflect that. The honest note is that this is a place people pass through. You come for the store, the cafe or a quick bite, and then you head home to a different neighborhood. For anyone living nearby, Crossroads West is the place that saves a trip to Modesto for groceries, which is the main thing it adds to the area.
