Del Sur holds an overall Houseberry score of 3.0/5. Its standout factor is safety (3.7/5). The trade-offs are nearby merchants (1.1/5) and public spaces (2.2/5).
Del Sur is open farm and ranch country on the western edge of the Antelope Valley. Centered loosely around 90th Street West and the Antelope Acres crossroads, it feels far removed from Lancaster's subdivisions even though the city is only about 13 miles away. Long fence lines, working fields and wide desert skies define the view. Housing consists mainly of ranch houses and manufactured homes on large parcels. Many properties have space for horses, livestock, hay, equipment or all four, and agriculture remains part of the community's everyday rhythm. Homes sit far apart, with open land doing more to shape the neighborhood than architecture. Daily life gathers around a small group of businesses on 90th Street West. Antelope Acres Market provides groceries and gas, Azteca Mexican Restaurant is the local sit-down option, and the community center hosts meetings and events. A feed and hardware store and the volunteer fire station reinforce the area's practical, self-reliant character. The surrounding desert is the main amenity. The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve brings dramatic spring color to the hills west of town, while the Ripley Desert Woodland protects Joshua trees and junipers farther out. Horseback riding, open-road cycling and quiet evenings come naturally with the space. Distance is the tradeoff. Supermarkets, medical appointments, pharmacies and most jobs require a drive to Lancaster or Palmdale, and every errand follows long, exposed roads. Wind, heat and the maintenance of acreage are part of the package. Del Sur fits residents who genuinely want rural desert life rather than a subdivision with a country view. Its ethos is independent and land-centered, with community built around a few shared stops and the seasonal spectacle of the poppy-covered hills.
