El Nido Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Dominguez Park, Heritage Court, South Bay Galleria

El Nido takes in a wide stretch of inland Redondo Beach, from the blocks around Dominguez Park out to the South Bay Galleria on Hawthorne Boulevard. Its quieter streets feel tucked away from the beach traffic that fills the western half of the city. Homes in El Nido are mostly single-family houses on full-size lots, many of them remodeled older homes with newer builds mixed in. Some streets pick up views south toward the Palos Verdes hills. Yards and pools are common, which sets it apart from the narrow townhome lots closer to the coast. Dominguez Park is the neighborhood's common ground, with a picnic shelter, Little League fields and the Redondo Beach Dog Park. Heritage Court inside the park holds the Morrell House and a Queen Anne house museum, open free on weekend middays. Franklin Park on Inglewood Avenue adds shuffleboard, basketball and pickleball. Redondough, at 1218 Beryl St, is the local bakery, making its pastries and breakfast sandwiches fresh each day and pouring Vietnamese coffee. Bistro Miyoda and Sushi Ichiriki share that Beryl Street center, and out on 190th Street, Big Mike's and Hank's Jr Pizza handle quick lunches. Errands are easy and almost always by car, with three full-size grocery stores inside the neighborhood. The Galleria changed hands in 2025 and is slated for a stop on the Metro K Line extension toward Torrance. The tradeoff is the drive to the sand. El Nido is inland, and the beach means crossing town on Torrance Boulevard or 190th Street. In return you get a quieter street, a bigger lot and a museum lawn where the neighborhood gathers on weekends.
