This is Laguna Ridge proper, the Madeira subdivisions that went up around Elk Grove's new civic center. The blocks between Elk Grove Boulevard and Willard Parkway are modern and energy-efficient, and the area was planned with parks built in rather than bolted on later, including the Cresleigh and Harvest Park greens stitched through it. The pull is District56, the 56-acre civic hub a short hop east on Big Horn Boulevard, with the Elk Grove Aquatics Center, the Commons, and the Veterans complex already open and a library and performing arts center planned. That gives this end of town a center of gravity the older Laguna pockets never had. What it does not have yet is age. The trees are young, the look runs new-build uniform, and weekend traffic around Elk Grove Boulevard is real. But if you want to be inside Elk Grove's newest planned core, walkable to a civic plaza and a pool complex instead of just another strip center, the Franklin Boulevard side of Laguna Ridge is where that lives.
