Elk Point is a small gated lakefront enclave with an unlikely origin: in 1921 members of the Reno Elks Club bought 25 acres for five thousand dollars, platted 114 lots, and incorporated the Elk Point Country Club in 1925 as homes went up. The name is the lodge, not the wildlife. Today it is a tight community of around ninety homes ranging from century-old cabins to new builds, sharing a private beach, a roped swim area, and a boat marina. The draw is straightforward: gated, near-lakefront living with genuine private water access and a high share of full-time and legacy-family owners, on a shore where most of that is locked up in far pricier estates. Nevada Beach, with its Forest Service campground, sits immediately to the north. The honest notes: inventory is very limited, so opportunities are rare and turnover slow, and the public record beyond the club's own history is thin. That adjacent Nevada Beach brings summer crowds and traffic on Elks Point Road right next door. For a modestly scaled, club-style lakefront address on the Nevada side, Elk Point is a quiet standout that does not advertise itself.
