Neighborhood Review

Key Words:

Redwood-lined canyon views, Trailhead-at-your-door, Secluded hillside roads

Nestled along Skyline Boulevard above Montclair, Forestland is a slender, wooded ridge stretching north toward Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. Steep lanes such as Sobrante Road and Manzanita Drive twist through towering redwoods and eucalyptus, with homes perched on stilts or terraced into the slope. Architecture runs from 1960s split-levels to angular contemporary builds, many capturing filtered bay or canyon vistas through the tree canopy. Outdoor access is the neighborhood’s calling card. Trailheads into Sibley and Huckleberry Botanical Preserve sit right on the eastern edge, while Pinehaven Road connects to smaller creek-side paths. Inside the boundary you’ll find the members-only Montclair Swim & Tennis Club, but no shops or restaurants; groceries, cafés, and Montclair Village’s weekend farmers market are a 7-minute drive downhill. Streets lack continuous sidewalks, yet traffic is so light that dog walkers and joggers comfortably share the pavement. Life here feels secluded, nature-oriented, and quietly upscale. Lots are generous, landscaping is well kept, and the dense forest backdrop lends every property a cabin-in-the-woods vibe even though Highway 13 and Orinda’s downtown are both within a quick drive.
