Green Valley is where Fairfield's street grid gives way to oak hills and vineyards. It sits on the west side of the city, close to Cordelia, and the road toward Suisun Valley's wineries begins nearby. The streets curve with the terrain, so the layout feels more relaxed than a grid. Houses on the curving streets are mostly detached and tract-built, with a few townhome pockets mixed in, and the neighborhood has the settled, landscaped look of a place built out over a couple of decades. Rockville Hills Regional Park is the big draw, more than 600 acres of grassland and oak woodland with over 30 miles of trails, a lakeside viewing deck, and a cave reached on foot. Dogs are welcome on a leash, and mountain bikers and rock climbers share the park with walkers. The main entrance is on Abernathy Road, and the park is open from sunrise to sunset. Vintage Green Valley Park and Green Valley Lake Park cover everyday playground and walking needs. Palm Thai Bistro, on Business Center Drive, and Hinata Japanese Steakhouse are the sit-down dinner choices, Chaats Cuisine adds Indian food, and The Napa Deli makes sandwiches. Sticky Rice Chinese Bistro and Bar and Pelayo's Mexican Food fill out the neighborhood's dinner list, with L&L Hawaiian Barbecue for plate lunches and Crumbl and See's Candies for dessert. For coffee with a view, Buzz Coffee at Village 360 sits among the vines a short drive up Suisun Valley Road. Safeway and the Fairfield Cordelia Library are both inside the neighborhood, and the interstate toward the Bay Area and Sacramento is close. Most errands need a car, and school and commute mornings are all driving. Walking to dinner is not realistic in Green Valley, so every evening out starts with the car keys. In return, a trail is minutes away, and the ridgelines turn gold in summer and green after the first winter rains.
