Leona Heights climbs steeply from Highway 13 toward Skyline, wrapping around oak-studded ravines and the headwaters of Leona Canyon. Everyday errands, though, require a car: the Skyline Community Market and a Safeway on Redwood Road are the closest options, sidewalks vanish on many interior streets, and I-580 noise hums along the lower slope. Life here is wooded and low-key, neighbors waving on the way to trailheads, kids biking cul-de-sacs bordered by redwoods, the downtown commute kept reasonable by the quick drop onto Highway 13. The canyon access and larger lots are the payoff; steep driveways, limited street parking, a car-dependent routine, and the annual wildfire concern are the cost.
