McLaughlin is a small residential grid on the west side of Culver City, and it's the neighborhood where Tito's Tacos has been handing hard-shell tacos across the counter on Washington Place since 1959. The streets behind the busy corners stay calm, with a steady run of houses on similar lots. Most homes here are single-family, many with three bedrooms and two baths, alongside smaller income properties with a few units each. Older houses sit next to newer rebuilds, and the streetscape stays consistent from block to block. The neighborhood has no park of its own. Food is where McLaughlin punches above its size. Johnnie's Pastrami on Sepulveda Boulevard has been serving pastrami French dips and house pickles since 1952. Metro Cafe on Washington Place handles breakfast and coffee with an outdoor patio, and Joxer Daly's pub pours on Washington Boulevard. Everyday errands center on Culver Crossroads on Sepulveda, with Starbucks, Jersey Mike's and a Rita's Italian Ice. Don Felix Meat Market on Sawtelle covers the butcher run, and Vons is nearby in Culver West. Playa Vista and Silicon Beach offices are close, and the 405 is a few blocks away. The lack of green space inside the neighborhood is the main tradeoff, along with traffic on Sepulveda and Washington Place at rush hour and the parking lots at the busiest food stops fill quickly at lunch. Most trips to a park mean leaving the neighborhood. Living here means the classic Culver City food stops are a walk away, with pastrami, brisket and a bag of tacos all within a few blocks of home.
