The setting is semi-rural, with more space and sky than you get in the central neighborhoods. This is firmly drive-to-everything territory. There's essentially nothing walkable nearby, and you're a real distance from downtown, shopping, and the freeway. The payoff is the edge-of-town quiet and the proximity to open land that the rest of Gilroy doesn't have. Mesa Ranch suits buyers who actively want to be on the rural margin rather than in the thick of the city. Go in knowing that the location that makes it peaceful is the same location that makes every errand a drive. It's a tradeoff that fits some people exactly and frustrates others.
