Monte Gardens is a steady, established Concord neighborhood whose biggest calling card is its school. The namesake Monte Gardens Elementary is one of the better-regarded public elementaries in the city, and that draws families to these blocks specifically. The housing is classic Concord, ranch and split-level homes on settled streets that have filled in over the decades, priced more accessibly than the hillside neighborhoods. It's a residential area first and foremost, so shopping means a short drive to the Concord Boulevard, Monument, or downtown corridors rather than a walk to the corner. It doesn't have a marquee park or a walkable main street, and the surrounding schools beyond the elementary are more of a mixed bag. But Monte Gardens delivers a sound, central-Concord address with a genuine school draw at a reasonable price. The elementary is the reason most people are here, full stop.
