North Civic is a small, almost entirely residential pocket a few blocks north of downtown Walnut Creek, and its anchor is Civic Park. That park is the city's main one, with playgrounds, a seasonal skate rink, a community center, the library, and a stretch of the Iron Horse Trail, so a lot of public life happens within a short walk of these streets. The location splits the difference between downtown access and a quieter address. It's an easy place to live for people who want to walk to the park, the library, and the edge of downtown without being in the thick of the retail core. The housing runs from single-family homes to condos. The honest counterweight is that, like the rest of the near-downtown band, North Civic carries a busier safety profile than the southern suburbs, and the homes are more mixed than uniform.
