South of Birch Road and west of State Route 125, Otay Ranch Village 7 is a quieter residential village in eastern Chula Vista, built up mostly after its planning documents were filed in 2003. Wolf Canyon Elementary opened inside the village in 2007, and the streets around it filled in through the years that followed. Homes are a mix of two-story single-family houses and attached townhome rows, finished in the stucco walls and tile roofs that run through all of Otay Ranch. The village is compact, so most streets curve back toward the school and the parks rather than out to a big road. It reads as newer and tidier than the first Otay Ranch villages to the north. Wolf Canyon Park, beside the elementary school, and All Seasons Park on Magdalena Avenue are the two named parks inside the village. The Otay Ranch paseo system ties into the village, so a walk can connect neighbor to neighbor without crossing Birch Road. There are no restaurants inside Otay Ranch Village 7, but Millenia is just across SR-125. El Viejon Seafood serves Baja style seafood towers and Ensenada style fish tacos on Millenia Avenue, and Common Theory on Optima Street has 30 taps and a bulgogi cheesesteak. Casa de Otay, also in Millenia, is the closest independent coffee. Daily errands mean a short drive to the Otay Ranch Town Center or the Vons on Eastlake Parkway. The Rapid 225 has stations at Otay Ranch and Millenia a short drive or long walk away, though most residents commute by car on SR-125 or out Birch Road. Getting across the freeway is the daily hassle, since the restaurants and shops are on the other side of SR-125 and the Birch Road interchange is busy at rush hour. Inside the village, though, traffic is light and the school and two parks give the streets a clear center, which is more than many suburban subdivisions manage.
