Pebble Beach is the part of the forest most people picture first. The Lodge at Pebble Beach faces the first tee and the 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links, and below it Stillwater Cove opens onto Carmel Bay. Old Monterey cypress and pine hide most of the houses, so what you see from the road is fairway, water and rooflines through trees. Homes are scattered among the golf holes, and many are placed to catch a fairway-to-ocean view. Lots lean toward privacy over street presence, and the old-growth trees hide more than they show. For fresh air, a loop of under half a mile runs from Casa Palmero around the third hole down to Stillwater Cove, where the beach is on the doorstep. The Beach & Tennis Club sits above the cove beside the 17th fairway, and its dining room is open to members and resort guests. Eating is the easy strength. The Tap Room is the Lodge's steakhouse and 19th hole, with golf memorabilia on the walls and a 22-ounce Delmonico on the menu. Hay's Place, at The Hay short course, has the property's largest patio, with fire pits and a margarita called Seal the Deal. Gallery Cafe opens at 6 a.m. Over the first tee, and regulars order the huevos rancheros and the cinnamon sticky rolls. The Bench turns out wood-fired dishes, and Stillwater serves California coastal plates from breakfast through the late evening. 17-Mile Drive passes straight through, and the Highway 1 gate is on this side of the Forest. Larger grocery runs mean driving to Pacific Grove or Carmel. Visitors shape the calendar here. Tour traffic is constant, and tournament weeks, including the U.S. Open's return in 2027, bring more cars and crowds to the streets around the Lodge. Most days the view that stays with you is the plain one, the first fairway running down to the cove.
