Federal Boulevard and Chollas Creek run side by side through Ridgeview-Webster, the southern edge of City Heights in San Diego, and both are part of why the neighborhood looks the way it does. Home Avenue bounds it on the northwest, Euclid Avenue on the east and State Route 94 on the south, with Swan Canyon and Azalea Park to the north. Webster, which locals sometimes shorten to The Web, is mostly residential, and so is Ridgeview above it. Most streets are lined with single-family houses, and the small industrial pocket that City Heights does have sits along this southern edge, near the creek and the freeway. Webster Elementary is in the neighborhood. The creek is the story to watch. In June 2026 the City broke ground on a project to rip out a 50-foot-wide concrete channel along Federal Boulevard and replace it with about a quarter mile of free-flowing creek, 300 new trees and restored habitat. A second phase plans a pocket park and a walking and bike trail connecting to Sunshine Berardini Field Park, the Little League diamonds on Federal. To the northwest, Charles Lewis III Memorial Park, opened in 2015 off Home Avenue, has a basketball court, a dog park and footbridges, with most of its land left as natural canyon slope. Federal Boulevard handles the errands. Manolo Farmers Market, at 5075, is the full grocery stop, with a tortilleria, a salsa and ceviche bar, a bakery and a hot food counter. Side Chick, in the same center, serves platters to go. Along Euclid at the east edge sits a short strip of Somali, soul food and fast food spots. Getting out is quick by car. SR 94 runs along the south side straight to downtown, and Interstate 805 is just west. Across the freeway to the south, Euclid Avenue has a trolley stop where buses fan out and Orange Line trains run to downtown. The freeway edge and the industrial lots along Federal make the southern blocks of Ridgeview-Webster the noisiest. If the creek work goes as planned, those same blocks end up beside a green corridor where a concrete ditch used to be.
